According to a recent report by an online learning platform, online learning in India (on this platform) went up by more than 200% during the current lock-down because of the coronavirus.
What’s interesting to observe is that enrollments for communication skills courses grew by more than 600%!
The general pattern is the preference for courses related to soft skills, creativity, innovation and similar topics that are long-term investments in time and money. While technical skills get outdated within a few years, soft skills are relevant forever and which one can continue building over the period of one’s career.
Not only individuals, but businesses too are seeing this value in investing in soft skills of their employees for the above reason. Institutions of higher education that are job oriented too have realized this demand from businesses and have introduced or ramped up communication skills programs for their students. Better communication skills of students has led to better placements with bigger offers.
